Life story
" Walter Eugene Simpson III, 67, of Partlow, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5th, 2026 at Mary Washington hospital after his short, but fierce battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Walter was born on September 12, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Alta Mae Simpson and Walter Eugene Simpson Jr. But as a child, he grew up in Partlow, Virginia off of Blaydes Corner Rd, and frequently would remanence about the farm he lived on; helping his parents tend to the farm and animals, and talked a lot about the German shepherds they had. He shared many stories of times the farm animals would break into Berkeley school and they would have to go bring them back home, as well as the mischief he and his siblings would frequently get into.
As an adult, Walter worked as a Printing Press Operator, until he recently retired.
To say Walter was a simple man is an understatement. It never took much to make him happy; a NASCAR race, a cold Budweiser, and hanging out in his garage with family and friends was all it would take. He loved having company and making people laugh, from his wild antics and silly (sometimes cheesy) jokes, he always had the biggest smile, ear to ear - red faced laugh that anyone could ever possibly have, and that was enough to make everyone around him happy and full of laughter.
But, above all else, nothing will ever compare to the pure and raw love he always carried for his kids and grandkids.
His family will always remember him for his free spirit and golden heart - standing in the garage with his coveralls and dirty glasses.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Jr. and Alta Simpson, as well as his brother, Kenneth Simpson.
He is survived by his daughter Terri Mullins (James), and his son Jerry Simpson (Fallon); four grandchildren, Angil Milbourne, James Mullins, Jerry Simpson Jr. and Skyler Mullins; his siblings, Joanna Pennington, Linda Messick and Curtis Simpson; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

"When my time on earth is done and my activities here are past, I want them to bury me upside down, so my critics can kiss my ass.” Uncle Walter, you always lived life to the beat of your own drum and owned every single moment. You loved to make everyone around you laugh. You loved your family and Grandkids so very much and very proud of them all. I want to thank you for all the lengthy conversations and the amazing laughs we had. Even in the hospital you made me laugh and smile. Enjoy being reunited with all of our loved ones and there is no doubt that you and Uncle Kenny are already raising a ruckus or two. Lol. Until we see each other again, I love you with all of my heart! Love, Renee”
