Life story

" Sharon Lynne Korngage, 81, of Parrish, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026.
Born on December 2, 1944, in Washington, D.C., Sharon lived a full and vibrant life marked by her unmistakable humor, her fierce authenticity, and a spirit that was unapologetically her own.
Sharon grew up in the D.C. area and graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia, in 1962. She married her husband, Albert Korngage, Sr., and they built a life together, raising their three children. As the wife of a law enforcement officer, Sharon understood the unique demands of that world and stepped up to support others walking the same path. She served as President of the Washington Metropolitan Police Wives Association, where she brought her natural warmth and straight-shooting personality to a community that deeply needed both. She also worked as an executive assistant in the jewelry and hospitality fields.
Sharon had a passion for travel. Her sense of humor was one of the first things people noticed about her, and it stayed with them long after. She never tried to be anyone other than exactly who she was, and people loved her for precisely that reason.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Korngage, Sr.; her mother, Mary Brown; her sisters, Francis Wrye, Diane Post, and Susan Foster; and her brother, Michael Brown.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Mallow; her daughter, Susan (Jim) Antenucci; her son, Albert (Christina) Korngage, Jr.; and her sister, Michele Mills. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brittany (Cade) Adams, Albert Jon Korngage, Alexandra (James) Kolbe, Michael Antenucci, and Rachel Mallow, all of whom were lucky enough to know a grandmother who was equal parts hilarious and real. Sharon is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
A private gathering of close family and friends will be held in Sharon's honor. The family kindly asks that those who wish to remember Sharon do so in the way she would have appreciated most: with a laugh and a good story.
Sharon lived life on her own terms, and she wouldn't have had it any other way. Neither would we.
