Life story

" Ronald Lee Robinson was born on June 14, 1949 in Charlottesville to Norman and Dora Robinson. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Andy, Betty, Joyce, and Donnie. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn and many nieces and nephews. Ronnie is also preceded in death by his older daughter, Amber Lanter. He is survived by his sweetheart, Ilene Robinson; his daughter, Nikki Brookman; his grandchildren, Jacob Tomlin, Maggie Brookman, and Lilly Brookman, as well as his great grandson, Bennett. He was looking forward to meeting his great granddaughter, Tatum, scheduled to arrive very soon.


As a child, Ronnie loved playing ball and roller skating with his siblings. He graduated from Albemarle High School and enjoyed a long career as a salesman and service writer. He spent his younger adult years chasing smiles with friends and family and staying active. He enjoyed home-cooked food, spending time with his family, and celebrating life with music and laughter. He could always be counted on to lift the spirits of those around him.


In his later years, Ronnie reunited with his high school sweetheart, Ilene, and came home to his family. He found joy reading, watching his favorite television series, and chatting with his family and friends. He relished every opportunity to connect with those close to him, always eager for a good story or a philosophical conversation. He became actively involved in his church, Bethany Baptist. His beautiful singing voice was often heard singing solos or leading the congregation on Sunday mornings, even until the very end. Ronnie was an optimist and always found a way to look at things from a hopeful perspective. He relied heavily on his staunch faith in God and left this world surrounded by family. He was well-loved throughout his life and will be sorely missed.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1st, at Bethany Baptist Church, 1692 Arrowhead Valley Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association.
