Life story

" Robert Paul Sharpe, age 61, was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on March 15, 1965 and passed away peacefully at his home in Stafford, Virginia on June 26, 2026.

Over his lifetime, Paul had many different jobs. At the time of his passing, he was working as a maintenance and grounds technician for the state of Virginia.

Paul made a positive impression on everyone who had the pleasure to meet him. He had a kind, approachable, and giving spirit that drew others into his world. Paul loved the simple, ordinary pleasures that life brought, One of Paul's lifetime treasures was spending time with his little dog, Beaner. Losing Beaner was hard on Paul and it took time for hm to recover.

Paul was a well-known Fredericksburg bicyclist, and over time, he traveled nearly every road in Fredericksburg. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast and became a regular visitor to Budds Creek, Maryland, for the Nationals each year.

In a world of unpredictable chaos, Paul loved nature and was most at peace being outdoors whether he was fishing or at home sitting in a camping chair in the backyard. Some people might call him a "River Rat" because he found peace in nature. As an avid fisherman, he spent his younger years fishing the Potomac river and later fished the Rappahannock River. One of his favorite spots was fishing at Two Stones, just off River Road in Stafford County. In his spare time, he would grab his fishing pole and head out. He could spend hours sitting on the river bank with his line in the water enjoying the natural beauty surrounding him.

It was Paul's love of nature and the river that influenced him to choose Embrey Dam as a place he married the love of his life, Theresa Anne Sweetser Sharpe. Their long, blissful marriage lasted 27 years. Together they raised his stepson, Franklin Hess III, two stepdaughters, Crystal and Jenny Hess, and at the time of his death, he was helping raise step-grandchild, Bentley Kane.

Paul came from a large family of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Jay and Betty Jean Sharpe, and his brother, Randy Sisk.

In addition to his wife, Theresa, Paul is survived by a host of family members; sisters: Linda Nutting (Fred), Beverly Steinback, Cindy Kosher (Bobby), and Robin Lara; brothers: Gideon Sisk, Doug Sisk (Judy), and Jay Sharpe (Joanne); step-grandsons: Brayden Blakley, Jaiden Blakley, and Bentley Kane, plus many nieces and nephews.

Paul was the anchor of our family. He was very special to each of us in different ways; a devoted husband, kind stepfather, step grandfather, loyal friend, and helper to many people. Today we miss him, but we are comforted knowing he lived in Christ and will forever live in our hearts. We look forward to the glorious day we meet again."
