" Peggy Ann Vasiliou (1945-2026)

With great sadness, daughters Natalie Brady, (George) and Anna Kelly announce the passing of their mother,
Peggy Vasiliou, nee Lyda on 12 July 2026 in King George, Virginia.

Born 24 January 1945 in Durham, North Carolina to Woodrow Wilson Lyda and Edna Mae Lyda, nee McDaniel.
She was one of eight siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Cecil William Johnson, (2004), Tony Vasiliou, (2000), brother Junior Lyda, (2020), sister Patricia Smith, (2023) and grandson Christopher Johnson, (2005).

Peggy is survived by her daughters, grandchildren Joshua and Brittany Johnson of Virginia, sisters, Barbara Springer, (Robert) of Maryland and Shirley Stevens of Florida, Mary Watkins and Joy Schanwolf, (Carl) both of Pennsylvania, Debra Hinkle, (Kurt), of Maryland, and cousin Kelly (Stewart), (Pat) Ray, Jr. of North Carolina.

She is also survived by six loving great-grandchildren that she adored and many nieces and nephews who will miss
her kind smile and laughter.

Peggy loved to played jacks as a child and play “500 Rummy” and work her “Find a Word” puzzles along with creating beautiful works of stained glass. She loved her soap operas.

Her greatest pleasure in life was to be with her family and friends.

Everyone Peggy met in her life of 81 years will remember her kindness and gentle touch.

Peggy may be gone but her spirit will live on forever.
