Life story

"Melissa Marie Boone, of Marceline, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at Brookfield Healthcare Center. She was born on March 14, 1969, in Brookfield.

Melissa was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Donald Boone and Ethel Boone.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Christy Rosa of Plano, Anthony Werteen of Marceline, DeCarlo Taylor of Marceline, Jazmine Taylor of Columbia, and Christopher Werteen of Marceline. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Olivia Rosa, Madison Rosa, Ella Rosa, and Aaron Rosa, all of Plano; and Elizabeth Cox, Paisley Werteen, Weston Werteen, and Alianna Werteen, all of Marceline.

Melissa devoted many years of her life to caring for her family as a stay-at-home mother, not only to her own children but also to many of their friends, whom she welcomed with love and kindness. Later in life, she worked as Dietary Manager at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center, where she continued to care for others with compassion and dedication.

A devoted Christian woman, Melissa found great joy in her faith and in spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering devotion to family, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 9, 2026, at First Christian Church.

Melissa will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
