Lewis was born and raised in Akron, OH before moving to Dayton.

He loved fishing and bowling and was in many bowling leagues throughout the years.

He is survived by children Tonya McCallum, Kimberly McCloskey, and John Hodson, and sisters Rosemary Rectenwald, Mary Dunaway, and Therese Hodson.
