Kaye Elizabeth (Purdy) Thompson, 62, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 14, 2026.

Kaye was born at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina, to Lorraine and Thomas Purdy. She studied agriculture at the University of South Carolina and began her career with the Department of Agriculture. Her deep love of plants and design eventually led her to a lifelong passion and vocation as a florist, where she brought beauty, care, and joy to countless events and everyday moments for family, friends, and her community. Those close to her often said she could arrange the most extraordinary bouquet from the simplest blooms — a gift that was entirely, unmistakably her own.

Kaye will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and the calm, steady way she tended both plants and people. She had an eye for color and detail and a rare knack for making ordinary moments feel special.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Philip Palmer II, Stephanie Palmer Carson, and Tiffany Peeples Hanna; and by her four grandchildren: John Philip Carson, Tristan Hanna, Riley Hanna, and Sophie Palmer. Kaye treasured her family and delighted in sharing her love of flowers and gardening with them — Sundays in the garden and quiet moments arranging blooms remain cherished memories for all who knew her.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to WarriorWOD Foundation at warriorwod.org/monthly-giving-veteran-ptsd.
