Life story

" Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann (Smith) Estes, 83, of King George, Virginia, passed away peacefully on the evening of September 18, 2026, following a period of declining health. She was under home hospice care at the time of her passing, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law.

Jackie was born April 7, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Robert W. Smith and Elizabeth J. (Langley) Smith. She was the oldest of eight children, seven of whom survived infancy.

On June 14, 1963, she married Beauford Estes. The couple had two children, Jennifer and Duane, and in 1972 relocated the family to Arkansas.

Jackie an avid quilter, several of whose quilts remain in the family, and enjoyed gardening. In her later years, while living with Duane and his wife, Stacey, Jackie took pleasure in the company of a few friends, Peanut, one of the family’s cats, and in watching the hummingbirds that visited each summer.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Estes) Rainey in McHenry, Illinois; her son, Duane Estes, and his wife, Stacey, of King George, Virginia; and her grandchildren: Scott Estes, and Sage and Shannon Rainey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Beauford Estes.
