Life story
" Mary Ellen (Leckert) Jamison suddenly passed away on April 23, 2024, with her devoted sister, Marion by her side, at the age of 82. She was born on November 18, 1941, in Washington, D.C. to parents, Joseph and Aubyne Leckert. She lived her life in the Maryland and Northern Virginia area. She is survived by her children Michael Joseph (Siggi) Jamison of Castleton, Virginia and Marie Elizabeth (Jamison) Moore of Millersville, Maryland: grandchildren Connor, Peyton and Corinne along with many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen was the oldest of four. She is predeceased by her sister, Joanne (Leckert) Macleay and her brother, Joseph Theodore Leckert. She has one surviving sister, Marion (Leckert) Burton. The Leckert children were raised in University Park, MD by their parents Aubyne (Olivet) Leckert and Joseph Theodore Leckert. They moved to Falls Church, Virginia in 1956. She graduated from Falls Church Highschool in 1960.
Mary Ellen became a mother in 1961, to Michael Joseph. She married Richard Joseph Jamison in 1969 and became mother to Marie Elizabeth in 1975. They lived in Upper Marlboro, Maryland raising the family. Mary Ellen worked at General Electric as an executive assistant for over 25 years. She also worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers for many years following. She was a devoted mother, sister, daughter and friend.
Her greatest passion was being a dedicated grandmother. She has three grandchildren, Connor Jamison Moore age 18, Peyton Michael Moore age 17, and Corinne Elizabeth Moore age 14. Mary Ellen, also known as Mimi. She loved family gatherings and celebrations. She led with love for her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, and friends. For this, she will be greatly missed.
Mary Ellen found joy and shared her generous spirit in many ways. This included supporting those she loved, especially attending her grandchildren's milestones with regards to school, church, sports, scouts and celebratory events. She rarely missed anything they did. She showed up. Love was, indeed, her currency. She was a beautiful soul whose quiet, humble and loving presence made a mark on and inspired many hearts during her dash. She would not want you to be sad that she was no longer physically with us. She would want you to live happily, dance, laugh, sing and remember her fondly when you do so, as she was such a gift to those that her spirit touched.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Wednesday, May 1 at 11:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park. A time of food & fellowship will follow at The Columbian Center on Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Memorial fund to help pay for the final expenses
