"Carroll Wayne Purks

Carroll Wayne Purks, 83, of Caroline County, passed away on March 31, 2024 at the home of his son. Wayne was born in King George County to Cephas & Juanita Marshall Purks.

Wayne loved driving semi trucks. He was a driver for Southland, E. F. Thompson and Waite Lumber Company, just to name a few. He had also worked for W. C. Spratt for a short time. For many years, when he was younger, Wayne played with various bluegrass groups in the area. Hobbies he loved over the years, besides playing music, included bowling, golfing, gardening, fishing & cooking (especially crabs). He was great at whatever he set his mind to do.

Survivors include three daughters, Lora Faulconer (Matt), Towanna Roberts (James), and Sharnette Atkinson; one son, Michael Purks (Rachael); 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Cindy Nichols and Sherry Melendez (Benny) and three nieces.

Wayne was pre-deceased by his wife, Betty; his parents, Cephas Purks (Bertha) & Juanita Marshall Purks Sutton (Irwin); son-in-law, Will Atkinson; brother-in-law, Greg Nichols; stepson, Daniel Franklin and stepdaughter, Donna Tilson.
