Life story

"Robert (Bob) H. Campbell went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2024 at the good old age of 94. In his final days he was surrounded by family and nurses who cared like family as well.
Bob was born in Port Norris, NJ on December 17, 1929 and grew up on the family hay farm where he developed a love for animals, especially horses and participated in endless antics with his 2 brothers.
Bob met the love of his life later in life. He married Thelma Marie Pettit in August of 1969 and they were blessed with 46 years together and had one child together, Jennifer. During that time they lived in 5 different states including a period in Alaska where his son, Dennis Campbell lived. The final state was Virginia where they settled to be close to family. Wherever they lived, both enjoyed the adventure together and valued time spent with their children and grandchildren.
Bob was a man of faith and spent much time in church. He and Thelma were involved over the years with activities such as teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. Even when he could no longer go to church, his love of his Bible and faith remained an anchor for him.
Bob was a man of many skills and hobbies. His main profession was barbering and he had his own shop for many years. He was skilled with a hammer and quite handy, even building a house for he and Thelma. There was also a horse barn built by them together. Bob’s hobbies of younger years were related to horses and ponies, his passion. He also loved to read, cook, paint, garden, and play the piano.
His last days were spent in Dogwood nursing home where he made the most of his time and impacted the staff with his sweet and grateful attitude and sense of humor.
His life will be celebrated quietly with family. He would want to be remembered as a man of faith who fought the good fight to the end that reunited him in his heavenly home with Thelma. I am thinking there will be a horse or 2 for him to care for too."
