Age 84

Life story

" Permelia E. Thomas (Perky), age 84, passed away peacefully in Stafford, Virginia at the home of her daughter, Julie Deshazo, January 25, 2024. She was born November 26th, 1939, in Falmouth, Virginia to Alice and Glender English.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Travis Thomas Sr., brother Alton English (Bud), parents Glender and Alice English, sisters Kathryn Edwards (Kat Kat), Glenna Hersman, Christine Spicer, and brother-in-law Bill Holsclaw.

Perky is survived by her sister Yvonne Holsclaw, sister Ruby McGee, sister, and brother-in-law Jacquelyn and Joe DeBernard; son and daughter-in-law Ronald Travis Thomas Jr. (R.T.) and Nancy, daughter, and son-in-law Julie and Alan Deshazo; grandchildren Cassie Thomas, Susan Manning, Barbara Thomas, Samantha and David Parrotte, Victoria Thomas, and Alexis Deshazo; great grandchildren Trenton Parrotte, Madison Manning, Cheyanne Parrotte, Barrett Parrotte, and numerous additional family members.

She was born and raised in Falmouth, Virginia on the English Family Farm located off Route 17. She often told stories of her life there. Perky graduated from Stafford High School where she excelled in sports and academics. She was an Air Force wife, traveling to places such as Maine, New Hampshire, and Germany. After raising her children, Perky worked as an executive administrator at Fort Belvoir from 1980 to 2012.

Perky was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She loved, and fed, everyone she met without condition. You couldn’t enter her home without hearing “are you hungry?”. Her beautiful smile, and red lipstick, brightened every room she entered. She was a hardworking, stubborn woman who provided love whenever needed. Her hugs were the best, the warm embrace and hint of "Beautiful" perfume seemed to wipe all your worries away. She was frugal when it came to her own needs, but continuously made sure her family and friends never felt struggle. In the end, you could find her propped up in her recliner, t.v. remote and phone in hand, watching cooking shows, sports, or QVC.

On behalf of our entire family, we would like to thank Terri Jones for the care and love provided to our mom during her time of need.
