Life story
" With great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our sister, Phyllis Ann Mathews, January 4, 2024 at the age of 66. Phyllis was born February 9, 1957 in Portland, Maine to Phyllis and Percy (Buster) Mathews who both preceded her in death. She grew up in Northern Virginia alongside her siblings. Phyllis graduated in 1975 from Stafford High School. One week after graduation, she began her 28 year federal service career and enjoyed many promotions. Upon retirement from the Federal Government she continued working several additional years as a private contractor for SRA.
Phyllis was a loving sister and friend. She had a passion for family, close friends, and sports especially her beloved Redskins. Phyllis is survived by her siblings Catherine Bisignano (Dallas), Priscilla Berry (Harry), and Percy (Buster) Mathews JR (Leanne). She is also survived by nieces and nephews Kathy Smit, Phillip Smit, Erica Smit, Danielle Emerson, Shawn Bisignano, Dallas Bisignano JR, Uncle Larry Mathews (Joan) and a host of other cousins and friends.

"I so much enjoyed the time spent with Phyllis during our government career. We also enjoyed fun time away from work like when she, Ronda and I went camping. I still have the pictures. She is now enjoying everlasting life in Heaven.”
