Life story

"Anna Lois Burns Sonderson was an exciting, creative, articulate free spirit that followed her inner song. She leaves behind her husband, Gene, her daughter Nicole Burns, and grandchildren Emilee and Gavin. Of her birth family, she leaves behind her sisters Linda Lee Riffe and Mary Evelyn Burns; and her brothers Robert Michael Burns and Bryan Burns. She was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Eleanora Burns, her brother John Edward Burns, and her sister Virginia Elaine Burns.

Anna Lois grew up originally in Cincinnati, Ohio and later relocated with her birth family to Norfolk, Virginia where she graduated from Norfolk Christian High School in 1972. Lois was an educator after completing her degree magna cum laude from Virginia Wesleyan and taught In Virginia Beach private schools for several years. Afterwards, she opened a gift store in Virginia Beach and later in Stafford owned several gifts shops in the area. She vended at Renaissance festivals where she also sewed cloaks and other apparel. Anna also worked with stained glass creating many fine pieces of art.

Anna Lois will be cremated and a celebration of her life is planned around her birthday in 2024. "
