" Joseph John Basista, 82, of Locust Grove, GA, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 peacefully in his home. Joseph was born on March 30, 1941 in Cleveland, OH to the late John Basista and Theresa Prohaska.
Joseph John Basista was an electrician in Cleveland, OH, retired from LTV Steel company after 38 years and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Joseph was a passionate and caring person. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. His love of outdoors doing yard work, planting flowers or gardening was his retirement passion. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Michael, Victoria, Danielle, Tiffany and Mariah, and being an active part of their lives since he retired to Georgia. He was an avid volunteer for the St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and local food bank.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his brother Ron Basista and step-son Terry Brown, daughter-in law Angie Basista
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years Hazel Basista, son Joseph M Basista, step-son Ray Brown and step-daughter Tonya Keith, brothers Darold Basista, Jim Basista, sisters Lillian Jirsousek, Mary Ann Basista and Joan Groll, nieces and nephews.
There will be no public memorial and his cremated remains will be part of a committal service with his wife Hazel Basista.
