Life story

"Roger Wayne Hoback, 74, passed away on December 4, 2023 in Fredericksburg, VA at Mary Washington Hospital with his daughter, Amber, and his brother, Ron, by his side. He was preceded in the afterlife by his adoring parents as well as his three sisters.

Roger was born in California on September 16, 1949 to the late Roy and Vernon Hoback. He often expressed his and his siblings' lives as a reflection of their great love. In his pre-teen years, the family moved across the country to make their home in Stafford, VA. Virginia is where Roger spent the majority of his life with brief stints on adventures throughout the U.S. and even Costa Rica.

Roger's first career was operating the Hoback's Sunoco gas station with his father. His love of cars lead him to earn a Mechanical Engineering degree and work in heavy equipment repair while always tinkering on his own private car collection. He co-owned R&C Equipment Corp. before venturing into commercial real estate, and many other eclectic entrepreneurial endeavors throughout his life. However, he was most proud of being a father.

Roger had a passion for music. He would often pull out his flute to jam with friends, and he attributed singing to getting him through life during difficult times. Karaoke goers in the Fredericksburg area most likely saw Roger sing at some point in the last 10 years.

His lasting spirit remains in our loving memories.
