Life story

" He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Chris and Laura, his wife, LaRayne and her children, his brother, Clyde and his family, and his sister, Sylvia Straughan, and her family. He is predeceased by his first wife, Barbara, to whom he was married 46 years, and his daughter, Shri.

Richard had a rich family heritage beginning in the 1760’s in New Market, Virginia, but grew up in Waynesboro and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. While he loved his career in furniture sales, Richard became an avid student of the Bible when he met Jehovah’s Witnesses. He served in the past as a faithful elder and secretary in the Staunton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Following his baptism in 1969 his passion was helping many in the community to learn about Jehovah God and his wonderful promises for the future. These promises include perfect health and everlasting life for mankind here on a restored earth. He also believed in the Biblical teaching of a resurrection of the dead to a paradise Earth in God's Kingdom with Christ as King.

We invite you to hear the same comfort and learn from the scriptures what Richard knew and dedicated his life to share with so many. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1868 Springhill Rd, Staunton, Virginia 24401 on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 3:00pm.
