Life story

" Shelly Jeanne Olsen, age 57, died unexpectedly on November 11, 2023, in Shenandoah, Virginia. She is survived by her son, Tyler Olsen, and daughters, Danielle Kelly-Lindell and Kayleigh Reburn; her children’s father, Jeffrey Olsen; two mothers, Nina Grube and Danielle Hoffman; her brothers, James Grube (Debbie) and Mike Grube (Beth), and her sister, Sue Conner. She is also survived by her special cousins, Lori Weber and Claire Ross Plath; her niece, Kaylin Spencer, and mother, Barbara Spencer; her niece, Amanda Labrado; and several other nephews, nieces, and family members. Shelly had multiple partners in crime, including Terye Williams, Emily Knighton, Crystal Porter, Thomas Rocks, Nikki Allen, and Angie Ritchie Miller. Shelly is preceded in death by her two fathers, John Ross and Wayne Grube, and her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Loraine Schefsky. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dennis Zimmerman and Dana McPherson, among others, for being with Shelly during her final moments.

Shelly was born on January 20, 1966, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She attained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix, and she worked as an accountant for most of her life. She was an avid reader, loved creating stained glass art, and bought enough candles to start several forest fires. Like her parents, she never passed on an opportunity to make a good joke. She cherished her church family at Christ United Methodist Church, Sunday lunches at Thunderbird Café, and her loving pugs, Pudgy, Daisy, and John Henry. In every aspect of her life, she gave everything and everyone her all, even if it was at her own expense.

She will remain in the hearts of anyone who had the privilege of knowing her and will be an angel watching over us in the sky.

A celebration of life, officiated by Pastor Anne Sisson, will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Christ United Methodist Church, located at 211 Central Avenue, Shenandoah, Virginia 22849. It will be followed by a meal, courtesy of Hank’s of McGaheysville, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
