Life story

" Linda Myers (Massey) Brown, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2023 after a 10 year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. A spirited servant, Linda served the community through her church, Fairview Baptist and through her love of emergency medical services as an employee of Lifecare Medical Transports and as a life member and volunteer EMT with Chancellor Volunteer rescue squad. She received numerous awards and recognitions during her tenure as an insurance agent, medical services administrative coordinator and emergency medical technician. She was well known for having an incredible way of connecting with others during times of tragedy. She was truly empathetic as she had walked many miles in those shoes during her lifetime and could honestly relate to those suffering injury, loss and hopelessness. She offered an open heart, a non judgemental ear and hope to those she met.
Linda was best known for her playfulness, light heartedness and generous spirit. Even in her end- stage dementia, she would assure you she was ok, apologize or compliment you with "you're pretty!"
She is survived by her oldest daughter, Tracie Lynn Massey; daughter Tiffanie Rene; bonus daughter Brandy Brown and son in law, Jerry Bounds. Grandchildren Kayla (Pote) Jones, Taylor Bounds, Cassie Hockaday, Mitchell Hockaday, Christian, Brooke & Zoie Shriver and also 6 great grandchildren; sisters Joanne Weaver & Janice Martin of Culpeper and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends, including our dear friends, John (Ray) & Jean Rayman who have walked alongside our family for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Brown (2018), her grandson, Spencer Hockaday (2011), and daughter, Paula Bounds (1999).

A Celebration of Life will be held April 13th 2024 at 1:00pm at Fairview Baptist Church, 900 Charlotte St, Fredericksburg, VA.

In lieu of flowers, at Linda's request, expressions of sympathy can be made by donation to the Spencer Hockaday Foundation, her grandsons memorial foundation, in her memory.
