Life story

"Charles was born July 10, 1936, in Hudson to Hugh H. and Alice L. (Ambler) Howland. On June 8, 1958, he married Eunice McClurg and she survives.
Charles had been an administrator and a teacher for the Blissfield Community Schools for 40 years, Western School District, and taught at the Sothern Michigan Prison in Jackson. He had also been a chemist at Uckelee Animal Health and drove charter buses in Florida and the Midwest. He enjoyed reading, genealogy studies and loved to be with people. He was a member of the Grace Point Evangelical Free Church.
Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a kind and gentle man, with a great sense of humor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was a great listener. He was a very loyal and supportive friend.
He was a great storyteller and could talk for hours about his life experiences. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time in his garden.

Eunice Howland; his sons, Scott C. (Linda) Howland, Daniel L. (Pattie) Howland, Craig A. (Lisa) Howland; his daughters, Lorene S. (Matt) Jones and Lynette (Brian) Rugg; his grandchildren, Michael (Annie) Howland, Matthew (Heather) Howland, Joshua (Kelsey) Howland, Sarah (Rob) Howland, Nathan (Kelsey) Jones, Jacob (Emily) Jones, Emma (Adam) Rugg, and Abigail Rugg; and his great-grandchildren, Charles, Emma, and Ava Howland, and Harrison and Henry Jones. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Jason Howland; a sister, Betty Jean Ehnis; and two brothers, Frederick Howland and Delbert Howland.
Charles will be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, and his unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Point Evangelical Free Church, or to charity of the donors choice. "
