Life story

"Patricia “Patti” Thompson was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on July 11, 2023, at age 71.

She was born to Hobert and Margaret Case on July 6, 1952. She grew up in Damascus, Maryland with her two brothers William and Hobert “Jack” and her one sister Nancy. After high school, she married Darryl Weddle and had two daughters, Jennifer and Melissa, her pride and joy. After her divorce, Patti met and married Stephen Thompson, to whom she was a devoted wife. Patti cherished her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She has nieces and nephews whom she also loved dearly. Patti was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother William Case.

Patti was a fierce advocate for animals and worked at a veterinary office providing care to animals of all kinds. She volunteered at an animal rescue for years and regularly donated to groups across the country to try to offer unfortunate animals a better life. She loved all animals, especially dogs and cats, and spent her life taking in strays and providing them with the kind of life she felt they deserved.

Patti will be missed by all who knew her. Her smile would brighten anyone’s day and the love she had for her family and friends will continue to bring comfort to them during this time. She loved Jesus and has gone home to live in His light for eternity.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1pm on July 29, 2023, at St Matthias Methodist Church 426 Deacon Rd Fredericksburg, VA 22405. A reception will be held directly after at the church for all her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Virginia Kinchloe Clinic in Fredericksburg, VA, where Patti volunteered for years or any other animal rescue.
