Life story

" Harry Gensmer, 72, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away on June 27, 2023 as a result of a long battle with cancer. His family was by his side when he peacefully went to be with the lord.

Harry was a proud U.S. Army Veteran where he retired as a Combat Engineer First Sergeant. His military decorations include a Meritorious Service Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Achievement Medal and multiple overseas ribbons and citations.

After the military, Harry continued to serve the U.S. Government for another 20 years as a civilian employee for the Defense Contract Management Agency.

Harry was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Aerie 4123) since 1995, where he was loved by all and co-founder of the "Wednesday Round Table." Harry loved the Washington Redskins and spending time at home with his family and friends.

Harry is survived by his Wife, Nora, daughters Barbara, Dawn, Linda, Nichole and Carmen, sister Carolyn as well as his 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Catherine, sisters Sheila and Joyce and his daughter Julie.

Harry will be laid to rest at the Quantico National Cemetery with military honors. The burial will be open to family only, but a Celebration of Life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 4123 on July 26, 2023 at 1:00PM.
