Life story

"In Loving Memory of Betty Crawshaw Almaraz.

Betty, a remarkable woman whose journey began in Germany and brought her to the United States, left an indelible mark on the lives of those around her. Born in Germany and adopted at the tender age of three, she embarked on a life filled with love, strength, and resilience.

Raised in the vibrant city of San Antonio, Texas, Betty embraced the opportunities that came her way. She attended Jefferson High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and cultivated a passion for learning. Following her high school graduation, she pursued higher education at St. Mary's University, where she continued to thrive academically.

It was during her time at Jefferson High School that Betty met the love of her life, Rudy, her high school sweetheart. Their bond grew stronger over the years, and they exchanged vows in a joyous wedding ceremony after completing their college education. Together, they embarked on a journey marked by unwavering love, support, and dedication to their family.

In 1987, their lives were blessed with the arrival of their beloved daughter, Rachel. Betty embraced motherhood with open arms, pouring her heart and soul into raising Rachel. Tragically, she faced the untimely loss of her husband shortly after Rachel's birth, a challenge she faced with remarkable resilience and grace.

As a homemaker, Betty nurtured her daughter with unwavering love and care. Her selflessness and devotion created a warm and nurturing environment, providing Rachel with a strong foundation for growth and happiness. Betty's unconditional love and unwavering support were always present, guiding Rachel through life's ups and downs.

Later in life, Betty decided to embark on a new professional journey, becoming a realtor in Maryland. Her innate ability to connect with others, coupled with her dedication and professionalism, allowed her to excel in her chosen career. In 2005, she returned to her beloved Texas, bringing her warmth and expertise to the real estate industry.

Betty was more than a professional; she was a cherished friend and confidante to many. Her vibrant personality and genuine compassion touched the lives of those she encountered. She formed an extraordinary circle of friends in San Antonio and beyond, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In 2013, Betty returned to Maryland, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law. Her presence brought immeasurable joy and happiness to their lives. She embraced her role as a doting grandmother to her two beloved grandchildren, Audrey and Russell, creating countless cherished memories with them.

Throughout her life, Betty exemplified strength, resilience, and unwavering love. Her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May we celebrate the beautiful life she led and find solace in the precious memories we shared with her.

Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Rachel, her son-in-law, Paul, her grandchildren, Audrey and Russell, and a host of cherished friends and relatives. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered."
