Life story
"Tracy was one of the best examples of someone that lived authentically themselves and truly lived life in the moment! Tracy was a very kind soul that truly put her family at the core no matter what battles she fought on her own. She valued kindness, authenticity, and care! And she thanks every single person for being here in her honor.
Tracy is the second eldest child of 3: Born to Johnnie Mae and Simon Basin. Tracy had two sisters (Sondra and Stacy Baskin). Tracy had two nieces (DeOndrea Thompson, and Simone White). Tracy also had three Grand-Nephews and two Grand-neices (Donald Brown, Jonathan Brown, Deonte Brown, Taylor Brown, and Jamecia Brown). Tracy left behind her only son, Mr. Gerald Scott.
As a young child and teen, Tracy was the middle child amongst two other siblings. Teaching Tracy to be very independent at an early age. As a young child, Tracy enjoyed singing, dancing, and “The Arts” As Tracy grew into her early young adulthood, she developed a substantial interest in food-Specifically Bar-B-Que!
Tracy attended Manual Arts High School where she earned her high school diploma. In addition to earning her high school diploma, she met two of her most influential friends Vera Young, and Pamela Love Udeh! Tracy really came into her adulthood by encountering many different experiences that helped shape her adulthood.
At the age of 22, Tracy met Gerald Scott. Gerald was a potential love interest for Tracy at this time in her life.Little did Tracy know that soon after meeting Gerald would give birth to her only son, Gerald Donte Scott
Making the tough decision to co-parent with Gerald was not ideal for Tracy but based on life’s circumstances It was the best way to raise “Little Gerald”. It was because of the core values that Tracy taught to “Little Gerald” as a child, that he would go on to graduate Los Angeles High School with a 3.6 GPA and successfully earn his Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology from California State Northridge University in 2010.
Tracy decided to create a career for herself in the food service industry by being a “Senior Food Prep” for the VA Hospital in Brentwood, California. It was at this time in her life where she was diagnosed with COPD.
Tracy made the decision to retire and focus on her health. With the help of both of her sisters and son, she was able to have the support that she need as the disease slowly progressed. Tracy peacefully transitioned on December 14th 2022 as a result of COPD complications. "
