Life story

" Billy (Bill) F. Ferrell, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at his home in Stafford, VA.
Bill was born in Vulcan, WVA on October 4, 1934. His parents were Julius C. Ferrell and Rebecca M. Ferrell (Mitchell). Bill married Sandra L. Pack on May 28, 1960. They had two children Rebecca L. Swift and David F. Ferrell (deceased).
Bill graduated from Milligan College, Johnson City TN. Bill was a devoted Christian who spent his entire life serving his Lord and Savior. He served as an elder at Woodbridge Christian Church (Woodbridge, VA) and First Christian Church (Fredericksburg, VA), consecutively. Bill was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and great granddaughters. Bill retired from the Department of Corrections Center in Lorton, VA where he taught GED and later became the principal of the Educational Department. After retirement he worked at Walmart in Stafford, VA starting as a greeter. Those that met and knew Bill knew he was a gentle man with a huge and kind heart. Bill is most remembered by his dry sense of humor. He never had an unkind word to say about anybody. Baseball was Bill’s passion and he was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Bill had two grandchildren, Melissa Beall and Nicholas Gayle. Two great granddaughters Gabriella Faith and Hadley Kate. He is survived by his sister Lois J. Greenwell of Johnson City, TN, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will be having a private celebration of life for Bill and ask for donations to be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
