Life story

" Mrs. Bernadette LeMoine (née White), 89, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away peacefully on September 5, 2022, at Mary Washington Hospital with one of her daughters by her side and is now with her beloved husband, Fred (predeceased in 2020).

Bernadette was a devoted and loving wife for 64 years, having met the love of her life in Grand Falls, Newfoundland where she was born.  Her entire life was dedicated to her home and her family.

From raising her six children in New York to retirement in Las Vegas to eventually spending her later years in Fredericksburg, VA; dull moments were far and few between. Bernadette never missed an opportunity to share her many adventures with family and friends (and some strangers along the way). She had a love of life with the strength to live it on her own terms and was known for her candor and charm.

Living every moment to its fullest, she enjoyed a good movie, a good joke, playing the slots, listening to music, late night dances with “her man”, and spending time visiting with family.

Bernadette’s memory was unquestionable, her storytelling was superb, her sense of humor was spot on and her laughter was contagious.

She is already deeply missed, and loved beyond measure, but will be remembered fondly for her generosity, quick wit and Newfie words of wisdom.

Bernadette is survived by her six children: Frances Barsky (Sam), Fred LeMoine (Debra), James LeMoine (Susan), Michelle Verderosa (Frank), Marion LeMoine, Sanford LeMoine (Christine); twelve grandchildren:  Danielle LeMoine, Julia Barsky Perilli (Justin), Bianca Powe (Matt), Tiffany Murphy (Tom), Barbara Ann Griffo, Gabrielle Coco, Michael Verderosa, James LeMoine, Dominique Frey (Brent), Ryan LeMoine, Thomas Thorgersen (Hartley), Tristan Thorgersen; ten great-grandchildren: Lainey LeMoine, Olivia Molina, Easton Frey, Bronx Powe, Cecilia Murphy, Camden Frey, Serafina Powe, Abigail Murphy, Grant Barsky Perilli, Eloise Thorgersen; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Mary Ellen (Nellie) Foley; her father: John White; her brother: Jack White; her sisters:  Mary Keats, Sheila Bradbury, and Hilda White.

“May the good saints protect you, and bless you today
And may troubles ignore you each step of the way.”

A private mass will be held at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at one of Bernadette’s favorite restaurants in downtown Fredericksburg."

Services will be private.
