Life story
"Charlie Ray Stidham, 70, of Connelly Springs, took his wings and went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Carolina Caring, following a period of declining health. Charlie was born on May 12, 1952, in Norton, VA to the late Charlie Epps Stidham and Pauline Calhoun Stidham. He was employed for over seventeen years in the coal mines of Virginia. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grand-father and will forever be in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Lewis Stidham. Survivors include his beloved wife, Amanda Cook Stidham (Carlene) of the home, and their fur baby, miss kitty, a sister, Opel Stidham Hale and husband Cossie of Coeburn, VA, and four children: Rebecca Stidham of Roanoke, VA, Charlie Ray Stidham, Jr. and girlfriend Nikki of Hildebran, Heather Stidham Turner and husband Mark of Bluefield, VA, and Jonathan Willie Ray Stidham and wife Candace of Lumberton, NC. Also surviving are six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends, especially special friends, Larry Bowman and Lynn Kanupp. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Matthew Holman officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
