Life story
"Jorge Prendes, 71, born May 27th 1950, passed away on November 29th 2021, surrounded by his loving and supportive family. Throughout his journey, Jorge left a lasting impression on so many lives.
He was born in Mazatlan, Mexico, though he lived his younger years until he was 28 in Mexico City, Mexico. Jorges father was a pilot, and taught he and his brothers to fly from a young age. Jorge flew his first plane at the age of 12, and later continued on to make a career of his passion to fly.
He left Mexico City in 1981 to live, and work in Wichita Kansas, where he and his wife Roberta had their two children Monique and Xavier. Even though life would occasionally take him back to Mexico, his home was Wichita.
Jorge worked as a Ground School and Simulator Instructor at FlightSafety International, Wichita East for most of his adult life. He loved his work and valued the importance of it, but most of all he loved his family.
He once wrote: I have enjoyed teaching since I was in my early 20s. I consider myself a very lucky and an incredibly fortunate man and father who takes great pride in his family and work. In my work I feel my easy going character makes me relatable to other pilots. As a dedicated professional pilot instructor, Ive had the good fortune to work with many pilots from all over the globe, but mostly Central and South American countries and these pilots will often schedule a year in advance, so I am kept very busy.
I believe that when my students get in their airplanes to go back home, they feel their time away from family was well spent. Then and only then do I feel I have done my job.
His daughter Monique writes: Dad had a need for speed and it didnt matter if it was behind the wheel or in a cockpit, he loved it. He took great pride in everything he did and it showed and that was exactly why he was booked out years in advance. His love for life was amazing. He had so much pride in his job, he worked up until 8 days before he passed away.
His Mother Consuelo Trujillo Camacho, and Father Jorge Prendes Fernandez, have passed. Jorge Prendes leaves behind:
Daughter, Monique Jeanne Lowe 40, her husband Nick Charles Lowe 41, and grandchildren, Chase Frederick Jackson 20, Lillianna Jeanne Prendes 16, Lara Roberta Sanchez-Prendes 14, Isabela Teresa Sanchez 13, Jenna Lindsey Sanchez 11, and Olivia Marie Lowe 6.
Son, Jorge Xavier Prendes 39, his wife Courtney Jean Prendes 39, and grandchildren, Gwendolyn Coco Prendes 13, Beckham Xavier Prendes 10, and Scarlett Flora Prendes 8.
Son, Ivan Alexandro Zarate Terrazas 33, his wife Amy Elizabeth Zarate 30.
Son, Bruno Gabriel Zaldivar Terrazas 30, and partner Anthony Deverger 29.
Sister Bertha Elizabeth Prendes Trujillo 70, and brothers Pedro Prendes Trujillo 70, Francisco Javier Prendes Trujillo 65.
And from The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery:
And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
Jorge Prendes Trujillo was well loved and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who loved and knew him."
