Life story
"William L. Ahrendt, Sr. formerly of Chicago, IL, entered Paradise on 1/3/2021. Bill was born December 22, 1931 to John, Sr. and Clara Ahrendt. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young boy. He enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean War and served our country honorably from 1950-1953. His lifelong work was for Chicago Daily News and then Chicago Sun-Times as a delivery truck driver. He made friends with everyone along his route. He enjoyed spending time with his large extended family, sailing on his boat, hunting, fishing, singing, joking around, and traveling to all 48 contiguous states in his motor home.
Dad will be loved forever by his children, Karen (Brian) Dickerson, William (Tonya) Ahrendt, II, Steve Ahrendt, Susan (Scott) Bennehoff, Keith (Melynda) Kroeger, and Amy (Michael) Kellerman. He was Papa to 15 grandchildren and Papa Bill to 5 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Uncle Bill loved his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings Shirley, John Jr., Gertrude, Marguerite, Catherine, and James; daughter-in-law, Clara and grandbaby, William III; and grandson, Sean Dickerson.
