Life story

"Dorah Nnalu Nzotta, RN, CRNA, beloved sister, aunt and friend departed to be with her creator on May 27, 2020 after a brief illness in John’s Creek, Georgia at 85 years old.

Dorah was born on August 10, 1934 in Ihie, Isi-ala Ngwa, Abia State, Nigeria. She was the third child and second daughter of Rowland and Rhodah Nzotta.

Dorah spent her early childhood in nature and adventure, working with her parents. She grew up next to her brothers and sisters, uncles, and cousins and so many remembered friends and family before she proceeded to carve out a career for herself in health care.

In 1961, just one year after Nigeria’s independence from Britain, she emigrated to the United Kingdom to further her education in Middlesex, a journey that would later define her career and make a difference in her life.

In 1971, she left England for the United States of America where she settled in Manhattan for over 40 years before moving to Atlanta Georgia after her retirement.

She was an accomplished Nurse, Nurse Midwife and Certified Nurse Anesthetist who practiced in Nigeria, the UK, and United States. She retired to Atlanta, Georgia in 2000.

Dorah’s love for her family was true and endless. She did her best for all her family to help every single person she could. She made sacrifice even when she did not have to, so that everyone in the family would attain their desired goals and happiness. She was a peace maker and was a pillar of brotherly and sisterly love.

Aunt Dorah, they say that memories are golden, well maybe that is true, but we never wanted memories, we only wanted you. Our hearts are broken, and tears are flowing, if we could but bring you back to stay with us a little longer. We prayed and we hoped, but our loving Father in Heaven knew when it was time for you to rest from your labor. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die...” (Eccl 3 vs 1).

We rejoice in this fact: that you lived, you cared, you sacrificed and touched many lives.

We always tagged you “kindness personified”.

You were a gift to the Nzotta family, your friends, and your church. You made the world a better place.

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." Rev 14:13

Rest on Aunt Dorah, rest on Da Nnalu, rest on Daa till the resurrection morning when we meet to part no more.

Dorah is preceded in death by:

1. Ukaegbu Nzotta (brother) 1968

2. Rowland Nzotta (father) 1978

3. Rhodah Nzotta (mother) 1985

4. Mathias Nzotta (brother) 1999

5. Jemimah Nwanma (sister) 2004

• A host of nieces, nephews, friends, cousins, the Ngwa community, co-workers, and church members.

"A Tribute to my Aunty- Ms Dorah Nnalu Nzotta. Dear Aunty, You lived a successful life and as a philanthropist you touched the life of everybody that has to do with Nzotta family either by blood or marriage. You rescued me from the wicked hands of death in the early part of my life. Daa- Nnalu, we would have wished that you lived longer but for sickness. We rejoice because you have gone to the bosom of the Lord where we shall meet to part no more. Adieu Daa-Nnalu. Jee ije gi nke oma. Eld/Mrs O.N . Nzotta and family”

"TRIBUTE TO OUR BELOVED MOTHER AND MENTOR DORATHY NZOTHA To a kind compassionate angel and a foot soldier for Christ. Sacrifice and hospitality personified. Grandma Dora as we fondly called her has like Abraham in the bible, many children that she cared for physically, spiritually and financially. Always quick to stand in the gap and interceed whenever you're in need of prayer. She sleeps late and wakes very early to call people to come and worship the Lord daily. Grandma Dora was in her eighties but has a sweet voice like a teen. Very fond of our grandchildren and calls them 'Sweetie"! I Blessing Hekerem count myself lucky for the privilege of meeting and visiting her face to face. When she took ill, a '911' Prayer Chain was set up for her and God answered every prayer said on her behalf. Our all knowing God saw that she had accomplished her task on earth and thereby could not give us a cure. It was His Divine will that she should rest hence God bid her 'come home '. Like the stars of the morning, we watched her fade away but we could not hold her back. In total obedience to the will of God her golden heart stopped beating; and her hardworking hands rested. Our hearts were broken to loose her. We are comforted by the promise of His word in 1 Thessalonians 4 : 13 - 18 that "the dead in Christ shall rise again. For 'precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints ' Psalm 116:15 . We will meet you in the morning by the bright beautiful riverside. Sleep on grandma DORA till the resurrection morning .Good night. *From the families of Blessing Hekerem, Charles Chidi Allen Eld. and Pleasant Nyovelle.*”

"My first memory of Aunt Dorah was on the occasion of New Years Eve in 1975. I was 8 year old. I won't detail the issue that Aunt Dorah had with me and my younger brother on that day. Let's just say that even at that early age I knew that this woman was NOT a push-over. Little did I know that 17 years later I would become her nephew when I married her niece Chichi. It is not flattery or an exaggeration to say that she is and always will be my favorite aunt. Ever. Aunt Dorah has been a part of my life from the moment Chichi and I were married. She stood in for Chichi's parents when they were not able to get a visiting Visa for our wedding. She was there for every one of my son's birth and she has showered them with gifts, blessings and encouragement for 24 plus years. We were so happy when she retired from being a CRNA and moved to Atlanta. I tell my boys all the time to cherish the fact that they are close to family members outside their nuclear family. I never had that opportunity but I am glad that my boys have had that ability. There are so many things that I could say; but suffice to say that Aunt Dorah has been a blessing to my family and we have been fortunate to live and learn from her for all of these years. We miss you, Aunt Dorah, but look forward to seeing you in that great getting up morning. Love Chukwuma Onyeije (AKA Hubby)”
