Life story

" Paul Nathan Anders (Animal/Skipper) of Woodbridge, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026 at the age of 66 after succumbing to injuries due to a severe stroke while doing what he loved: BOWLING!

Paul was born in Alexandria, VA to George and Betty Anders and grew up in Jefferson Manor. He attended Hayfield High School and worked at his father’s gas station before beginning a career in flooring. Paul was in the flooring business for 30 years, becoming a lifelong master craftsman of flooring installation well known in the Alexandria/Woodbridge area. In 2008, he transitioned his focus to McCormick Paints, while continuing floor installations on the side. He delivered paint for McCormick paints for 18 years, becoming well known and well liked amongst his co-workers and customers.

When Paul wasn’t working, he spent his free time doing his favorite hobbies; bowling, corn-hole, playing guitar, camping and fishing. Paul, or Animal as many know him, spent several years bowling at the Alexandria Bowling Center. Later, he bowled as the Skipper with his team Gilligan’s Island at Bowl America Woodbridge. Skipper eventually found a love for corn-hole and played with the Woodbridge Cornhole League, Headspace Cornhole, and anyone who was brave enough to challenge him to a game! He was a bright spirit that always had a smile on his face and brought happiness to everyone around him.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Breeden Anders, his father, George William Anders, his sister BettyLou Dozier Anders, and former wife, Jennifer Sue Redman.

Paul is survived by his siblings Charles (Charlie) Thomas Liles (wife Carol Liles), Georganne (Tootie) Anders Lucas (husband Lewis Lucas), his twin brother George William Anders (wife Dorothy Anders), his sons, Michael Nathan Anders (wife Christine Hornberger), Joshua Wayne Anders, Christopher William Austin (wife Lore Austin), and Justin Scott Anders (wife Betsy Moscoso) and his grandsons, Riley Bryce Anders, Zachary Raylan Austin, Lucas Alexander Sisk, Christopher (Will) William Austin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Paul at the NY Banquet Hall, 13600 Foulger Square, Woodbridge, VA on September 27th, 2026, at 2:00 pm. All friends and family are invited to attend.



In lieu of flowers and gifts, a GoFundMe was set up to help with medical bills and celebration/end of life arrangements.
