Life story

"Peggy was born on July 1, 1956, in Norton, Virginia, a place that always remained close to her heart. She had a deep love for her hometown and treasured the memories and connections she carried with her throughout her life.

Peggy loved many things, but some of her greatest joys were her family, her cats, trips to the beach, and Christmas. Christmas held a particularly special place in her heart, and those who knew her will remember the happiness she found in the season and the traditions surrounding it.

Above all, Peggy loved her family. She is survived by her children, Sabrina L. Bates; Aaron D. Bates and his wife, Heather; Candy Bates; and Christopher A. Dye. She was a grandmother to multiple grandchildren and was also blessed with great-grandchildren, all of whom were an important part of her life and legacy.

Peggy will be remembered for the love she had for the people and places that mattered most to her. Her family will carry forward countless memories of holidays, family gatherings, trips, laughter, and the everyday moments that made her uniquely Peggy.

A private Celebration of Life will be held with immediate family in her beloved hometown of Norton, Virginia.

Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched. "
