Life story
" Christopher Wortman, 43, of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away on May 15, 2026. Christopher faced numerous health challenges throughout his life due to diabetes, including poor eyesight and the need for a kidney and pancreas transplant. Two years after his transplant, he suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed. Despite these hardships, Christopher’s love for baseball remained one of the great joys of his life. He played the game he was passionate about until his health no longer allowed him to continue. Over the years, he built a wonderful circle of friends through baseball, and their loyalty and love meant so much to him. In his final days, many from his baseball family came to visit him in the hospital, including dear friends who traveled from California and Ohio to say their goodbyes. Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Walter Wortman. He is survived by his son, Wyatt Wortman, his brother Timothy Wortman and his mother, Lisa Wortman. He will be remembered for his strength, his enduring love of baseball, and the lasting friendships he shared. A memorial service will be held at a later date. "
Services will be announced at a later date.
