Life story

"On April 28th, 2026, God in his infinite wisdom called his faithful servant, Betty Durant, home to eternal rest.

Betty Durant was born on March 4, 1942, in Beulaville, NC to the late Carrie Pickett Moore and O'Neal Pickett. She was raised in a loving home and accepted Christ at an early age. Her faith in God remained a guiding force throughout her life.

Betty Durant was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who loved her family deeply. She was known for her kindness, strength, grace, and warm spirit. She brought comfort, wisdom, and encouragement to everyone blessed to know her.

She attended Unity Freedom Baptist Church. She loved cooking, and she loved going to Atlantic City with one of her favorite sisters, Asalene (best friend). She also loved being with her family and having enormous cookouts. She always had spectacular times traveling to see her family in both North and South Carolina. She never forgot about her bonus children . She loved them dearly and they loved her just as much. Whether through her prayers, her laughter, or simply her presence, she made a lasting impact on the lives of many.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her children, grandchildren, siblings, bonus children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Bet and Larry shared life together for over 50 years. The love they had for each other was impeccable. She was the light to his bulb. She was the ying to his yang. Bet loved to see her husband dance. Bet would blush while he is cutting a rug. They was like love no other.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie Pickett Moore and O'Neal Pickett, grandson Rafiq Simpson, and 8 siblings.

Bet was for certain the glue that kept the family together.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant"
