Life story

" Ruby was a woman who lived life on her own terms-funny, stubborn, and incredibly intelligent. She had a way of knowing a little about everything, earning her the nicknames walking encyclopedia and Ruby MD among those who knew and loved her.

Ruby was born on January 18, 1969, in Phoenix, Arizona, and later made her home in Henderson, Minnesota, where she built a life centered around family, fun, and the simple joys that meant the most to her. She passed away on April 17, 2026, at Mayo Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota.

She spent much of her career working in transportation and warehouse roles, where her strong work ethic and sharp mind never went unnoticed. Beyond her work, Rubys greatest pride and joy was her family. Family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent together whether at random get-togethers or during holiday celebrations.

Ruby found happiness in the simple things that made life special. She loved camping, riding motorcycles, thrift store shopping, shopping in general, weekend getaways, and getting her nails done. She also had a soft spot for buying flowers whether or not they ever made it into pots was another story. Those little quirks were part of what made her so uniquely her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Johns; her parents; her brother, Wally; and her brother-in-law, Pat Fisher.

Ruby is lovingly remembered by her fiance, Richard Brooks; her siblings, Frank (Janice) Cobb, Charlene (Danny) Torrez, Jennifer (Danny) Husted, Roberta Fisher, and Amy (Ryan) Grosam; her children, Lee (April) Schuster, Mindy (Mikey) Waala, Amanda (Bryan) Sellner, and Charlie (Alex) Johns; her eleven grandchildren; and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Ruby will be deeply missed, but her spirit, her humor, and her love for her family will live on in all who knew and loved her. "
