Life story

" Alexandria, VA — Michael C. Jacobs, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and retired United States Air Force officer, passed away on March 19, 2026, following a brief battle with complications of pulmonary fibrosis.

Born on February 23, 1945, Mike lived a life defined by courage and service. As a career officer in the USAF, his assignments brought him and his family to Thailand, France, and India. He earned numerous commendations for work that required a rare willingness to put himself in danger, time and time again. He always answered the call for his country.

After retiring from the military, he served as a loan officer before finding a meaningful role as a substance abuse counselor. Mike is remembered for a legacy that is not built on wealth or titles, but on how you change the world of those around you. Guided by deep personal principles, he was known for his quiet friendship, his witty sense of humor, and his bold ability to help people steer their lives toward better things. He was a source of solace and wisdom to those in need, helping them navigate trauma and toxicity with peace and calm.

By sharing his own journey of personal growth and resilience, he changed the trajectory of dozens, if not hundreds, of lives. By choosing a path of healing for himself, he became a master teacher for others, proving that one person’s choices can inspire generations.

Above all, Mike loved and cherished his wife, Carole, with all his heart. He found immense joy in letting everyone know that theirs was a love spanning over 60 years—a true partnership that served as the foundation of his life. He was a loving father and the grandfather who always cheered his "grands" on from afar. He was beyond proud of his granddaughters: Chelsea’s sense of adventure, Mia’s curiosity, and Caroline’s choices in life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carole; his daughters, Wendy (Art) and Julie (Jack); and his granddaughters, Chelsea, Mia, and Caroline. All of whom will miss his presence in their lives sorely.

He was a wonderful man—perfectly imperfect, deeply respected, and loved beyond measure. Through his family’s proud stories of who he was, his values and virtues will be admired by his family members who are yet to come for years to come. Rest in peace, until we see you again.
