Age 62

Life story

"Craig was born on October 8, 1963, to the union of Mattie Mae Williams and Perry in Chicago, Illinois, who both preceded him in death. Craig accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Carver Elementary. He lived in Riverdale & Altgeld Gardens for several years.
He had many hobbies that he loved, including scavenging and working on cars. He was best known for making others laugh and cracking jokes. When you were in a room with him, you were never off-limits from the jokes he had tucked in his pocket. He was a loving granddad who filled his grandchildren with love and sweets.
Craig was well known for working at Kwik Mart Convenience Liquor Store and Buylow Food & Liquor in Harvey, Illinois, for many years. He also worked at Burnham Liquors, where his customers loved him because of his personality. He was known for his sayings, Play on it, and I dont even wanna hear it. His laugh was so loud it echoed through rooms a laugh that will always be remembered.
Craig enjoyed comedians like Richard Pryor and Red Foxx. He loved the blues, and shows like The Walking Dead brought him much comfort. He also took great pride in caring for his godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Powell.
Our loving uncle, father, brother, and friend was called home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2026, at the age of 62.
Craig leaves to cherish his memory his six children: Andrew Hill, who resides in Madison, Wisconsin; Nicole Williams (Marvin) of Burlington, Iowa; Anitra Addison (Brandon) of Burlington, Iowa; Akira Smallwood (Charles) of Mishawaka, Indiana; Craig Williams Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; and Christopher Williams of Chicago, Illinois.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and four siblings: Lynn Russell, Raymond Williams, Jewel Williams, and Jay Williams. Craig is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved deeply and they deeply loved him. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Larry Williams and Darius Thomas.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of our beloved dad.
Though we will miss him deeply, we find peace knowing he is resting in Your loving arms.
Surround him with Your light and grant him eternal rest.
Comfort our hearts, and help us hold on to the love, laughter, and memories he gave us.
Until we meet again, we place him in Your care.
Amen.

Remarks:

Daddy, I remember as a kid when it was time to drop us off at home, we would always beg you to take us to Riverdale Park. You would say no, then pull up there anyway. No matter how loud I screamed, you would push me higher and higher. I enjoyed every bit of it.
I remember when you would take me to Old Country Buffet every birthday and to Hollywood Park. We had our good and bad times, but those good times outweigh the bad. The laughter and fun part of you is what I'll pass on to my children.
You made the Gardens feel like a mansion on the Fourth of July, New Years, and Christmaseven the trips to Indiana Beach. I will miss you and carry you in my heart forever.
Love,
Your grieving daughter,
Akira

My daddy was funny, authentic, selfless, helpful, and well known. My kids and I will truly miss him and cherish our memories of him. Always and forever, I will be known as his PUG.

Daddy, your laughter filled every room,
Chasing away the darkest gloom.
Your jokes, your smile, your loving way,
Are memories that will never fade away.
Though my heart aches and tears still fall,
I hear your voice through it all.
Forever your child, I'll always be
Your love lives on inside of me
Love,Memaw"
