Life story

" Patricia Sharon Chandler, lovingly known as Pat, passed away on February 14, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 20, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, she later made her home in Abingdon, where she built a life centered around family, creativity, and love.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Chandler, who passed away in 2021. After years apart, they were reunited on Valentine’s Day — a fitting and beautiful symbol of the love they shared.

She is survived by her daughters, Amanda Minnichbach and her husband Ian, and Alissa Rhoades and her husband Donald. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jack, Addison, and Penelope, who were truly the light of her life.

A deeply creative soul, Patricia was a talented artist whose gifts spanned writing, drawing, and reading. Later in life, she discovered a passion for photography, building a meaningful second career behind the lens. She had a remarkable ability to see beauty in the everyday and preserve it for others to cherish. She also loved Disney and all the magic it represents — imagination, hope, and childlike wonder — qualities she carried with her throughout her life.

Even in passing, Patricia continued to give. She was an organ and tissue donor and made the extraordinary decision to donate her whole body to further medical education and research. Her final act reflected the generosity, compassion, and selflessness that defined her life.

Patricia will be remembered for her artistic spirit, her gentle strength, and the unwavering love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the creativity she shared, the lives she touched, and the gifts she gave — both in life and beyond.

Now reunited with Richard, her Valentine, she rests in love and peace.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

"Mandy and Alissa, your mom was one of a kind. I will truly miss her. I find it amazing that she passed on Valentines Day and you are right she joined the love of her life. I remember their wedding and from that came a beautiful family. She was blessed to have all of you there for her after your dad passed. I know it was hard. I'll see you at the Memorial, and Pat, I'll see you again one day too. Love Anne Marie Porretti”
