Life story

" Barbara G Deal, 76, passed away on Feb 21, 2026 in her sleep.

Born Feb 11, 1950 she was a devoted Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 40 years
working at the Rappahannock Community Services Board, the Child Development
Center, and in private practice in Fredericksburg, VA.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 24 years, Jack, 2 stepchildren,
Michael and Desiree, and 2 stepgrandchildren, Conner and Colman.

She had a BS and MA in psychology, an MSW in social work and a BFA
in painting and print-making.

She loved animals: cats, squirrels, and birds and was a Virginia Master Naturalist.

She was active in the NAACP and was not tolerant of racism or
misogyny. She was active in both the Episcopal church and the Unitarian Universalist
church.

She loved music and was proficient in piano, native American wooden flutes, and
silver flutes.

She loved art and was an accomplished artist herself. She loved the art museums in
Washington DC, New York, San Francisco, London, Amsterdam and Paris.

She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Fredericksburg Regional Food bank.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 3:00 at the Unitarian Universalist
Fellowship of Fredericksburg: 25 Chalice Circle, Fredericksburg, VA 22405.
