Life story

"Edward Don Stone (Donnie) Died peacefully in his home on Feb 10, 2026 after a brief illness at the age of 89 years.
He is survived by his wife Dianne Stone, his Children Kandis Richardson of Phoenix, Az. Kirk Stone of Edwards, Co., Matt Stone, Meredith Stone of Jenks, Ok., Grandchildren Brandon, Christian, Brooke, Rylie, Victoria, Trinity, Tytan, Kyler, Zoelle, Two great granddaughters Ellie Pastor, Meadow Blu Baker. One Great grandsons Kyaire Coulter. Also a host of nieces and nephews that loved him very much.

Donnie was born on January 5, 1937 in Sioux City, lowa to Lester Roy Stone and Beulah Lola Gordon Stone. He graduated from Fayetteville High School and went on to College at the University of Arkansas and played college Football for the Arkansas Razorbacks as a standout All American running back. He started his career for two years with the Calgary Stampeders in Canada. While living in Canada, he met his first wife, Janice and had two beautiful children. Kandis and Kirk. He made his mark as a 1961 AFL All-Star with the Denver Broncos before winning the AFI title with the Buffalo Bills in 1965.

After his football career ended he was a business partner with his father and brother from the late 60's to the early 70's. They had a boat dealership for a few years and then on to selling automobiles. After his dad and brother moved back to Arkansas and sold the company to Donnie, he met his wife Dianne and to this union two children were born, Matt and Meredith. As Donnie aged in his life he became this wonderful grandpa to his grandkids. He loved singing their favorite songs with Tori, listening to Tytan play his piano, and always proud of Trinity and her hat tricks playing sports. He and Kyler loved to talk about guns and hunting and Zoelle is the proud owner of his dictionary. His Great Granddaughter Meadow Blu, born on his #88 birthday, by his special prayer request. Among all, a lot of great memories. His grandchildren definitely all had their own special bonds with him.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Lester and Lola Stone, Grandmother Mary C Stone, Brother Charles Leroy Stone, and sister-in-law, Emma Leah Stone.

Most important to Don was his love and desire to be with Jesus. As we all know, we fall short in our walk with Jesus on this earth. Praise the Lord, we can be forgiven and are saved by his sacrifice for our sins on the cross.

Like his Grandmother’s precious scripture in Philippians 3:14 and ll Timothy 4:17 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

This is a time to rejoice, a true LEGEND to GLORY!!
