Life story

" Ray was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. A proud graduate of Scranton Tech and Johnson College, he built his life on hard work, discipline, and quiet determination.

He worked for many years in manufacturing and fabrication, beginning at Elliott Company in Scranton, then Sandvik Steel in Waverly. After moving to the Philadelphia area in 2005, he continued his trade at Professional Handyman Inc., Gamesa Wind Towers, DC Fabricators, and Empire Abrasive, where he remained until retirement. Wherever he went, he showed up, did the work, and carried himself with pride.

In addition to his civilian career, he served nearly 30 years in the United States military, including service during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His commitment to his country was steady and unwavering.

In 2025, he moved to Virginia to be closer to his grandchildren. Though he lived much of his life privately, he loved being “Grandpa” more than anything. Maeve and JJ brought light into his later years, and time with them mattered deeply to him. "
