"Karen Hixson, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Brightwood, Virginia on February 15, 2026.

Born on August 29, 1954, Karen lived a life marked by strength, loyalty, and deep devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Lewis “Pete” Hixson. Though widowed, Pete remained the love of her life, and their bond endured beyond time.

Karen was deeply dedicated to her family, who remained the center of her life. She lived with a quiet sense of responsibility and devotion to those she loved most.

After years of dedicated service, Karen retired from the County of San Diego. She carried herself with quiet resolve and preferred a simple, private life focused on family and the things that mattered most to her.

Karen expressed a clear wish for no celebration of life or memorial service, and her family is honoring that request. There will be no public or private services.

Karen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Madison, Virginia, fulfilling her final wish to be reunited with him.

She will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of those who loved her."
