Age 33

Life story

" With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lacey, who left this world far too soon on January 26, 2026, at the age of 33.

Lacey was a light in the lives of everyone who knew her — bubbly, loving, and full of life, with a smile that could brighten any room. She loved deeply, laughed loudly, and made people feel welcomed exactly as they were. To those closest to her, she was an amazing wife, a devoted mother, and the best big sister anyone could ask for.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her son, Rowan, and embracing motherhood with her whole heart. She poured love into her family and treasured every moment with them. Lacey’s warmth, humor, and authenticity touched countless lives, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

Lacey is survived by her loving husband, Matt McPhail, and her son, Rowan McPhail; her parents, Theresa and Steve Rutland, and Tom and Lisa Roth; her sister and brother-in-law, Jesse and Dylan Gunter, and niece, Serenity Gunter; her brothers, Rhett Mullins, Dirk Mullins, and Mitchell Mullins; her surviving grandparents, Diane Stahl, Frank and Linda Roth, along with loving aunts, uncles and cousins, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Benita Coffel, Jim Coffel and Jack Stahl.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Old Firehouse Station in West Frankfort, Illinois, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember her in a way that reflects the spirit she lived with.

Though her time with us was far too short, Lacey’s love and light will never fade. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. "
