Life story

"Joseph E. “Joe” Chick, 68, of King George, Virginia, passed away on Saturday,
January 10, 2026.
Joe was born on December 4, 1957, in Washington, D.C., to the late Dorothy and
John Chick. From an early age, he developed an incredible work ethic that would
define much of his life and give him a deep sense of pride and purpose.
Joe was blessed with two beautiful love stories.
In his first, he shared 35 years with his beloved wife, C. Lynne (Henrichs) Chick,
with whom he built a life and raised two amazing daughters. Lynne’s love and
partnership shaped Joe deeply as a husband and father, and her influence
remained a lasting part of who he was.
In his second chapter, Joe found love again with Tina (Venneri) Chick, his wife and
devoted partner of 12 years. Meeting Tina gave Joe renewed purpose and
meaning, and together they built a life rooted in companionship, care, and
laughter. Tina lovingly called him her “Cuppa Joe,” a reflection of the warmth,
closeness, and affection they shared (not to mention their shared love of coffee).
Joe cherished their life together, especially the years they were able to enjoy
retirement side by side.
Joe spent the first part of his career working as a lineman, a role that suited his
strength and determination. He worked for several companies over the years,
most notably B. Frank Joy, where he dedicated many years of service. He later
began a second career in the propane industry, working for The Gott Company
and eventually Southern Maryland Oil (SMO). He retired in 2024, proud of the
work he had done and grateful for the life it allowed him to build.
Joe often said he was born a generation too late. He was an avid enthusiast of
history, particularly World War II, and a devoted lover of classic movies. He
delighted in recommending a “new” old film to his children and anyone who
would listen - always eager to share the stories, eras, and values he admired so
deeply.
Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Lynne; his sister, Patty Chick; his
brother-in-law, Michael Whittington; his sister-in-law, Marsha Henrichs; and his
nephew, Michael Whittington, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Tina (Venneri) Chick; his daughters, Katie Chick and
Melanie (Mike) Tucker, bonus children Joey (Anna) Bigsby, Jessie (Patrick)
Brennan, and Jarret Bigsby, and grandchildren, Leland Tucker, Fisher Bigsby,
Scarlett Tucker, Archer Bigsby, and Georgia Brennan.
Joe is also survived by his siblings Jeanne Whittington, David Chick, and John
Chick; his siblings-in-law Dana Venneri, Stephen (Diana) Henrichs, and Jonathan
Henrichs; his nieces and nephews Brian Whittington, Sarah Chick, Andrew Chick,
Jeffrey Whittington, Benjamin Chick, Dakota Venneri, and Dawson Whittington;
and the many cousins he dearly loved.
Joe will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, a
loyal friend, and a man who found dignity in hard work, meaning in love, and joy
in the stories he shared. In the words of a beloved classic film he cherished,
“Remember, no man is a failure who has friends.”
A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date, with more information to
