Thomas James Fossum, age 73, passed away peacefully in Rochester, Minnesota, at the Mayo Clinic after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. He was born on December 11, 1952, in Eagan, Minnesota, where he spent his early childhood until the age of 10, when his family moved to Arizona. Those early years helped shape the values and character he carried throughout his life.

Thomas later attended Grand Canyon University, where he pursued his studies and met the love of his life, Martha. It was during a simple dinner in Minnesota that their story truly began — a moment that would forever change the course of his life. What began as an ordinary evening grew into a deep and enduring love. Together, Thomas and Martha built a life grounded in commitment, partnership, and love.

Later in life, Thomas and Martha returned to Eagan, Minnesota, where they started their family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories. Family meant everything to Thomas, and he took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Throughout his long battle with cancer, Thomas demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience, and grace. He faced each challenge with quiet courage and determination, never losing his kind heart or steady presence. Thomas valued hard work, loyalty, and the small moments that brought people together. He will be remembered for the love he gave so freely and the lives he touched along the way.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Martha; his daughter, DeeAnn; and his three grandchildren, Riley, Kale, and Kendall. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas. Thomas will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him."
