Life story

"Robert affectionately known as "Ricky," was born to the late Albert and Mary Hazel Miller on March 30, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On Friday, April 9, 2021, Our Lord gendy closed the eyes of our beloved Ricky. He was preceded in death by his son, Floyd James, daughter, Tanya Brown and two grandsons: Dijion and Diamond. Ricky received his formal education in the Philadelphia School System. His family attended Second Shiloh Baptist Church where Ricky accepted Christ at an early age.
Ricky was a Driver for 30 years, retiring in 2003. As a driver, Ricky did not hesitate to put a smile on passengers face entering the bus. He left memorable moments for many, especially his children who were proud of meeting him at certain destinations for weekend visits.
The family continues to cherish the magical memory of riding a bus for a day of fun to Six Flags Great Adventure Amusement Park in Jackson Township, New Jersey.
Ricky met and married Vanessa Lockhart, the love of his life in 1973.
They were an inseparable couple filled with love, fun and travel for almost 50 years. Frequent trips to Florida were a mandate, yet, going to the Caribbean islands and cruises were necessary to unwind and enjoy moments alone with his wife.
Ricky was a lover of music and dancing. His different genres of music included Doo-Wop, oldies and disco. He was a smooth dancer when he Bopped, but when he was younger-he would do a little breakdancing.
Ricky was a fun and loving family man who entered any occasion bringing LIFE to the event and non-stop laughter. He would bring the jokes and everyone knew the party would be lively as long as Ricky was in the atmosphere. Ricky LOVED his family and would "pick & tease" with love, more importantly-he spared NO ONE from getting a raste of his jokes. Friends and family from the 1300 blocks of Newkirk and Dover Streets were not excluded from the joy, laughter and fun from Ricky. He was adamant about sharing the wealth of his comedic skills with those he loved.
