Life story

" Mario Antonio Furtado Brum Correia Sr., a longtime resident of Midland,
Va, passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born
January 15, 1947, in the Azores on the island of Sao Miguel to Fernanda
and Manuel Correia.
Mario was a loving husband to his wife, Barbara (nee Kapes), for 55 years;
a proud father to his two sons, Mario Jr, and Thomas; a loving
grandfather to Zachary, Joshua, Fernanda and Logan; and adoring
great-grandfather to Calliope. Aside from spending time with family, his
favorite activities were working around his property, creating metal yard
decorations, and occasionally relaxing on escorted tours. After he
retired, he would sit on the porch with his trusty companion Harley at his
feet and admire decades of hard work while listening to Portuguese
music.
He was a master roofer who excelled in commercial sheet metal roofing –
many beautiful buildings in the DMV (e.g. Cascades Marketplace, Jericho
City of Praise, etc.) are testaments today to the lasting quality of his work.
Mario also did private roofing projects for many area residents
throughout his career, where he was highly sought-after for his honesty
and work ethic.
A funeral service to celebrate Mario's life will be held on Saturday
December 13, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist's Catholic Church in
Warrenton, Va at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that
donations be made to the Prostate Cancer Fund (www.PCF.org/donate -
