Life story

"Tom Cheshire, age 93, was born in Tucson, Arizona and passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He is now with the Lord and reunited with loved ones in heaven.
A career soldier, he dutifully served in the US Army for 32 years encompassing multiple overseas assignments that included the Vietnam conflict in 1967. He received numerous awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star, Master Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantry Badge and several campaign ribbons. His Army career culminated upon his assignment as the Command Sergeant Major of the US Army Criminal Investigation Division, retiring from Army service in 1986.
Fun loving, quick witted, and gregarious, Tom enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, whether it was meeting for lunches or out for drives in the country. Tom was a devoted husband, father, and Opa with a loving family whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr and Minnie; his beloved wife of 56 years, Christl; former wife Mary Frances; and granddaughter Stephanie. He is survived by his four children; sons Rob (wife Terri), Walt (wife Katie), and Richard (wife Melinda) and daughter Karen Ueberroth (husband James). The family includes 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren all of whom had a special place in Opa’s heart.
Opa’s love, kindness, and strength will be deeply missed by all of his family, friends, and the many people who supported him in his later years."
