Life story

"John Jerry Raprager
May 14, 1980 – September 15, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Jerry Raprager, a man whose larger-than-life personality, tireless work ethic, and deep love for life’s joys touched the hearts of all who knew him. John left us on September 15, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana, after a valiant fight against prostate cancer. Born on May 14, 1980, in Beloit, Wisconsin, John’s journey was one of hard work, cherished friendships, and unforgettable moments that carried him from his Midwestern roots to the lively spirit of the South.
A lifelong drywaller and carpenter, John poured his heart into his trade, crafting not just buildings but legacies with his skilled hands. Yet, it was his passions beyond the worksite that truly shaped who he was. An avid fisherman, he found peace casting lines on the water, each trip a chance to weave new stories. He relished crab boils under the open sky, cheering for his favorite football teams with a cold beer in hand, and throwing legendary parties with friends where laughter and love flowed freely. John lived for these moments, his infectious joy reminding everyone to embrace life’s simple pleasures.
John was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Raprager, and all of his grandparents, who undoubtedly greeted him with warmth in the next chapter. He leaves behind a grieving but grateful family: his devoted mother, Johnna Howe; his sister, Venus Raprager, her husband, Paul Frisker, and their beloved nieces and nephews; his son, John McCollum; his daughters, Kay Lynn McCollum and Nevaeh Raprager; and his granddaughter, Arabella McCollum, who brought him boundless pride and happiness. John’s heart also belonged to his quirky companions, his cherished prairie dog Peanutbutter and hamster Randy The Macho Man Savage, who were family in every sense.
A celebration of John’s vibrant life will be held on October 19, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Viking Lanes in South Beloit, where friends and family can gather to share stories, raise a toast, and honor a man who lived with unmatched zest. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending final expense donations to Johnna Howe to support the family during this time.
John’s legacy lives on in the walls he built, the love he shared, and the memories he created. He taught us to work diligently, laugh heartily, and love fiercely. His spirit will linger in the ripple of a fishing line, the roar of a football crowd, and the warmth of a friend’s embrace. Rest in peace, John—you will be forever missed.
